LEGAL
Legal technology that holds up under pricing and regulatory pressure.
THE LEGAL SECTOR CHALLENGE
Legal and insurance organisations operate in an environment where a technology failure has consequences that a typical enterprise doesn't face. Client confidentiality, jurisdictional data rules, and regulatory scrutiny don't tolerate vague answers about where data lives or how AI makes a decision. Most technology partners can build a platform. Fewer can do it with the governance, security, and accountability that legal procurement actually needs.
CAPABILITIES
What Abstract Delivers in Legal
AI & Automation
Building AI capability directly into case and claims platforms, accelerating document processing and case workflows without compromising the audit trail a legal system needs.
Software Engineering
Building and operating case and claims management platforms end to end, from architecture through to production, for organisations that can't afford a partner who hands off halfway through. Whether it is joining your tech team to assist with an augmented build or a ground-up build using our AI automation software development tooling.
Cloud & Infrastructure to data/AI Sovereignty
Running legal platforms on Azure, with the uptime and scalability that a multi-jurisdiction system demands, with true capability for data and AI sovereignty within protected environments and serving up within each region across the globe.
Security & Managed Support
ISO 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus aren't optional extras in legal technology. They're the baseline Abstract builds from on every engagement.
Case Studies
Primary proof point
DWF · EvoClaim
Abstract built AI capability into DWF's EvoClaim claims management platform, embedding AI and automation across the full claims lifecycle from first notice of loss through to settlement and complaints. The work covers ten AI use cases delivered in five phases.
Each use case is built into the EvoClaim handler workflow rather than added as a separate tool, so claims teams work in one platform with AI surfacing decisions at the right point in the process. The AI is modelled on DWF's own historical claims data, with a governance framework covering model oversight, human review thresholds, and Consumer Duty compliance built in from the start
Cloud Migration
Scottish Courts
Abstract delivered development and cloud migration under Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service's own fixed-price delivery framework. The work moved their Integrated Case Management System from on-premise infrastructure to a fully cloud-based platform on Microsoft Azure, using Azure API Management, WebApps, and Function Apps, with Infrastructure-as-Code implemented through Azure DevOps pipelines. Case data and documents were migrated from on-premise servers to Azure, with virus scanning built in for uploaded files.
The engagement utilised Abstract's software engineering and cloud infrastructure capability, with security and architecture reviews built into the delivery process.

WHY ABSTRACT
Why Legal Firms Choose Abstract
Abstract is UK-led on every engagement, which means the people scoping a case management system are the same people accountable for it in production.
Abstract has built systems for law firms and courts, working through the full lifecycle of a legal matter, from case creation and matter management through to judgment or settlement. That experience shapes how systems get designed, understanding what a fee earner needs at the matter level, what a court needs at the workflow level, and how those two things have to connect without creating data or process gaps between them.
The AI Abstract built into legal platforms is platform- and vendor-independent — important in a sector where procurement decisions have multi-year consequences and the regulatory position on AI is still developing. ISO 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus apply across every engagement as the baseline.
